Navigating the water industry as a new professional can be extremely challenging. Hearing from experienced professionals who have been in similar positions is an excellent way to learn about best practices and refine career goals. Please join us for a Career Development Panel for an opportunity to learn from four experienced professionals in our industry. The panelists will give insight to their careers, provide guidance to less experienced engineers, and reflect on things they’d do differently as emerging professionals.
Our Distinguished Panel includes:
Todd Dmytryshyn
Assistant Director of Engineering
Moulton Niguel Water District
Todd’s career began at the University of Michigan, where he earned a BS degree in Civil Engineering. After graduation he moved to California, became a licensed civil engineer in the Golden State, and worked for Malcolm Pirnie (later Arcadis) for over seven years. While there, he specialized in water and wastewater projects. Today, as the Assistant Director of Engineering at Moulton Niguel Water District, Todd’s primary responsibility includes the development and execution of the District’s proposed $611 million, 10-year capital improvement program.
Candice Espinoza

Candice began her career path at Cal Poly Pomona, where she earned a BS degree in Civil Engineering. While in school, she was an Engineering Intern in the Water Resources Division at the City of Santa Ana for over four years. She followed this with four years as an Assistant Engineer in the Public Works/Engineering Division at the City of South Gate. Here she managed a diverse range of projects, ensured compliance with grant-funded programs, and reviewed and issued a variety of city permits. Her diligence paid off, for she moved on to City of Anaheim seven years ago. Since then, she’s worked her way up in the public utilities department from Assistant Engineer, Water Planning & Development, to Associate Engineer, Water Capital Projects. She will share how her career has flourished as she moved from planning and analysis of future water systems, to the design, management, and construction of diverse water systems improvement projects.
