About Our Presentation

Pure Water Southern California is a new local water supply for the region that will help ensure our homes and businesses have reliable water in the face of a changing climate.

The program, a partnership between Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts, will purify and reuse cleaned wastewater that currently flows into the ocean.

At full scale, it could be one of the largest potable reuse programs in the world, producing 150 million gallons of water a day – enough to serve the daily needs of 1.5 million people. It will be used to replenish groundwater basins, serve industries and eventually be directly integrated into Metropolitan’s drinking water treatment and delivery system – benefiting 19 million people across Southern California.
